I have been fortunate to have traveled to Europe four times. While in Europe, I attended a film workshop in Grozgnan, Croatia where I co-created a film about the art of music in an old, medieval town. An architecture workshop in Motovun, Croatia gave me the first opportunity to struggle with how architecture can place itself in a context older than the formation of Canada. I attended the Venice Architecture Biennial, an extremely inspiring showcase of amazing, architectural work being done around the world. I spent a semester of my Masters studying in Barcelona, experiencing what it like to live in the centre of a well designed, European city. While there, I traveled throughout Europe looking at advanced wood manufacturing projects in Austria, Spain and Switzerland. I also explored projects by Peter Zumthor, Santiago Calatrava, Shigeru Ban, MVDRV and others.
